"Ever since it launched in 2009, Ed Cross – now located on East London’s Garrett Street – has been working with emerging and established talent across and beyond the African diaspora. The gallery’s latest summer exhibition is no different, placing a range of artistic styles and practices in front of appreciative attendees, with the work of up-and-coming artists set among, and in conversation with, the work of acclaimed names. One of the artists showcasing their work is Sola Olulode, a British-Nigerian who presents nuanced visions of queer intimacy and community through her work, while Leah Gordon’s efforts explore the intersectional histories of the Caribbean plantation system and the transatlantic slave trade among many other powerful subjects."
